Bull Fights

Ole! I went to the Plaza Mexico a few weeks ago for one of the most sought after tickets in Bull Fighting. This guy Jose Tomas is apparently a world renowed matador or 'torredor' and rarely comes to Mexico so everyone was psyc'd. Apparently we paid 3x or 4x the ticket price but it was still cheap. Someone apparently slept on the sidewalk like it was a damn U2 concert or something...I don't know...I don't really believe it but that's the story.




Apparently, they mame the animal with spears to keep it from having a heart attack, then they play with it a little and get real close and ultimately stab it in brain and pull it away on a stretcher. There's a whole bunch of traditional stuff in between too.


So other than the fact that this Spanard is crazy and got super close to the bull and got bucked twice, I think he's most famous b/c he was the first matador to come out of the closet...very progressive (he's the one in the pretty blue outfit with hot pink socks waving the bull's ear at the crowd...then he threw it at someone...awesome)


So a less famous but equally crazy matador was bucked 3 times by his bull and looked like he was dead. You can see the picture of them carrying him out of the ring. ooofff! insane. He was fine though and most of the blood on him is from the poor bull (sad). But I have to admit that it was amazing and I wasn't nearly as disturbed by the spectacle as I thought I would be.

A must see in my book...
